I can't believe I haven't posted for that long! My life has been crazy lately - I do so many things in the same time. Anyway, today I'm gonna talk a little bit about laminate flooring. We chose to throw out previous floor (linoleum) because it was really dirty, very old and just nah. I don't know why but I'm not a fan of linoleum flooring. Maybe it's cheap and durable but usually it doesn't look pretty. I absolutely LOVE hardwood floors. Unfortunately they are very expansive so I can only dream of it right now.

Gdy skończyliśmy już z tapetą, przyszła pora na malowanie. Uwielbiam malować! Pierwszą rzeczą, za jaką się zabraliśmy było łatanie dziur. Później przyszła pora na gruntowanie. Musieliśmy to zrobić, bo nie wiedzieliśmy jak farba będzie zachowywać się na ścianie po pomalowaniu. Zwłaszcza, gdy właśnie ściągnęło się tapetę, a na ścianach pozostał dziwny kurz z poprzedniej farby. Wiem, że w ostatnim poście dość się nagadałam na ten temat. Zaraz go zmienię, bo dzisiaj będzie o malowaniu!

After all the hard work with stubborn wallpaper was done, it was finally time for some painting. I love painting do much! I should do it for a living because it's freaking best thing to do. But first of all we had to patch some holes, then do some priming. Cos you never know how the wall will react. Especially when you just removed the wallpaper and had weird dust left on your walls from previous paint. I know that I'm talking about that all the time lately, but it's just because I was so fustrated when we had to deal with it. I'll stop just in a minute, just let me rave over painting and I'll forget about wallpaper!

Tapeta jest fajna. Dopóki nie trzeba jej kłaść na ściany lub zrywać. Pół biedy, jeśli chce się w tym miejscu położyć inną tapetę. Wystarczy wtedy ściągnąć wierzchnią warstwę, a resztę można zostawić. Problem zaczyna się, gdy chce się tapetę ściągnąć, a ścianę pod nią pomalować. Tak przynajmniej było u nas. Na zdzieranie tapety przeznaczyliśmy maksymalnie 1 dzień. Wydawało nam się, że we dwoje spokojnie damy radę to zrobić. Nie mogliśmy się jednak bardziej mylić.

Wallpaper is cool. As long as you don't have to remove it. It's not that bad if you want to cover wallpaper with wallpaper. Then it's not necessary to make the old wallpaper gone completely. You have to remove the top layer and that's it. You can hang your shiny brand new wallpaper on the "leftovers". The problem is when you want to paint your wall and you had a wallpaper there. We wanted to remove the wallpaper in one day. We thought that we can do it. But we couldn't be more wrong.

Pierwszą rzeczą za jaką zabraliśmy się w trakcie remontu było wyniesienie mebli. Część z nich wylądowała pod śmietnikiem, a część zabraliśmy na przyczepie do domu. W bloku nie ma windy, ale na szczęście mieszkanie znajduje się na pierwszym piętrze, więc schody nie były problemem. Okazało się jednak, że po rozkręceniu mebli, zrobiło się z nich bardzo dużo kawałków, które trzeba było wynosić pojedynczo, czasami udało się zabrać np. dwie półki na raz. Krótko mówiąc, było sporo biegania w tę i z powrotem. Najwięcej ochodził się mój brat, który jako najmłodszy w rodzinie często robi za chłopca na posyłki ;). Przy wynoszeniu mebli nie mogło być wyjątku.

First thing we did when we started renovation was removing furniture. We left some next to the skip, and we loaded the rest on a trailer and took home. I don't have a lift in my block but the flat is on the first floor so the stairs weren't a problem. But when we spread the furniture in pieces we had like oh-so-many-pieces to remove. To cut a long story short, it was a lot running up and downstairs. My brother was very helpful and as long as he is the youngest in the family he usually is our errand boy ;). Removing furniture couldn't be an exception.

Jednym z pomieszczeń, które będę tutaj pokazywać jest salon, sypialnia i jednocześnie jedyny pokój w całym 33 metrowym mieszkaniu. Studiuję w Krakowie, więc w dniach, kiedy mam zajęcia muszę gdzieś mieszkać. Gdy po jakiś 10 latach nieobecności, pierwsze raz weszłam do mieszkania, wiedziałam że czeka nas dużo pracy. Mimo że nie należy ono do mnie, za zgodą Cioci (która jest właścicielką mieszkania) mogłam wprowadzić pewne mniejsze i większe zmiany. 

W najbliższym czasie będę pokazywać na blogu co i jak zrobiliśmy, aby ostatecznie pokazać Wam efekt końcowy.

One of the rooms I'll be showing here is living-bedroom, the only  room in the whole 33 square meters flat. I study in Cracow, so I have to live somewhere when I have lectures. When I enetered the flat for the first time in 10 yeard I knew we will have a lot of work. Even though the flat isn't mine, with my father's aunt permission (she is the owner) I could make some bigger and smaller changes.

In the nearest future I'm going to show you here what and how we did everything to finally show you the result.
